Pre-Tenure University Women and Health

Women in tenure track positions have a lot to lose if they become ill and are seen as unable to perform their jobs. Despite the availability of accommodations, some pre-tenure women avoid disclosure when they have a mental or physical health condition. We are exploring why pre-tenure women choose to access or not access leaves and accommodations to which they are entitled.  We aim to acquire insight into how disclosure conditions and processes can be reformed in order to improve retention of pre-tenure women, foster successful careers, and instil sense of belonging and respectful engagement at the University of Waterloo.
